First day cover ( FDC ) , issued on the date of release of any stamp , It contains the Stamp/stamps , Cache , and Cancellation of the stamp ,
After Independence , India has released its First FDC in the year 1948 . Even though there was a release of stamps in the year 1947 , there was no OFFICIAL fdc for them , ( Private fdc exists )
First day covers are of two types , OFFICIAL AND PRIVATE
When India post issues any fdc it is called at Offical fdc and when any private person makes there own fdc it is known as Private Fdc .
The craziness for the Private Fdc was started along with the release of India's First Post Independence stamp in the year 1947 , where there was no Official FDC for it .
Since there was no Official fdc for the stamp , Philatelists made there own Private FDC for the stamps released
In the Year 1948 , India post came out with Offical FDC for the issue Mourning of Mahatma Gandhiji. Since then there used to be Official and Private Fdcs
Since then the philatelists started making private fdcs even though there was a offical fdcs for the stamps
I have made an effort to bring all Fdcs issued and made in India after Independence
